this mushroom doesn't make you grow

I went to see the new Indiana Jones movie. It's very good and I highly reccomend it. It takes place in 1957 so the opening song was already out in case you were wondering.
But that's not really what I want to talk about.

The Atomic Bomb. That's what I want to talk about. In the film you get to see him survive a nuclear explosion. (I won't tell you how because it's very nifty.) It was a cool movie effect for sure. But as I was sitting there watching what the explosion did to that little town I was thinking how sad it was that we dropped those bombs on Japan.
I'm not trying to argue whether what we did was right or wrong, so please don't use my blog as your platform.
No I just think it's sad.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomic_bombings_of_Hiroshima_and_Nagasaki
That is the information I read on it. Well I didn't only read that because it's wikipedia and can't always be trusted. But that had the most information of what I read and most of it has citations.
Anyways I think it's sad that all those people died and that so much was destroyed there.
And it leads me to another point. It's not about atomic bombings, it's just also sad.
Where I work in the mornings they give out free New York Times and sometimes I will pick one up. So I did the other day and I read 2 front page articles, one extremely sad and the other was sad but had a good side to it.
The first one I read was about genecide in South Africa. Apparently some of the native South Africans hate immigrants and have taken to beating and killing them, leaving their bodies in the streets. As I was reading this I wondered what possesses people to do these acts. It's horrible. And why do humans hate other humans simply because they are from a different country. The people feel like the immigrants cause too many problems and take their jobs, so they beat them to death. 50 have been killed already and many others hurt. Scenes like the one below aren't uncommon. Dead people lieing in the street.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/20/world/africa/20safrica.html?_r=1&oref=slogin
(I don't know if this will work the link because I tried to go to it again and it said I needed a membership so sorry if it doesn't work.)
Now you may be thinking that I am a hypocrite but I don't hate immigrants. I hate that some come here illegally, but I don't hate the people. I'm definately not against immigration just against breaking the law. And I wouldn't beat people just because they are from another country.
I also wonder about the government in these countries and how they can let this happen. Aren't they suppossed to be protecting the people of the country, even if they have immigrated? It just doesn't make sense to me. It seems to me that no matter where you go on the earth people are people. Different areas have different cultural things but basically all humans are the same right? So why do people kill other people just because they immigrated? I guess the bigger question is when will people look past where you are from and see what's on the inside?

I don't know it's just very sad. And these genecide killings seem to happen a lot in Africa. It seems like that kind of thinking should have died with the dinosaurs, which is to say it whouldn't have even been with humans in the first place.
So the second article I read was abou the earthquake in China and how the chinese people are rising up to give aid to the victims. It was really very cool to read. I guess the Chinese government doesn't usually allow it's people to give aid in the ways they are now. They like to keep everything under the microscope you know. But they are allowing their people to give back and help. Just ordinary civilians are heading to the epi-center of the quake and offering what they can. And I think that's cool. I guess Colbert would give them a tip of the hat. So do I. It just goes to show how there is still goodness in the hearts of people.

The quake was real sad news though. I mean I knew it had happened, but the continuing news of the death toll rising and the number of people without homes. It makes me wish I had a passport or something so I could go help. I read nline about this church that was destroyed just after some weddings had taken place there and they were taking pictures when the photographer felt a quake. He told everyone to run and continued to take pictures of the destruction of the church in the quake. It was sad. I saw before and after pictures and that church was beautiful and really old. And after words it looked like the ruins King Luie lived in in The Jungle Book.
This is kind of a depressing post. Sorry.

bah

so I work at the MTC. It's good. People always ask me about Tom. It's funny.
Also I work in the HRCB doing custodial. I found out this morning that if I got a degree in Physical Facilities or something like that I could start out making 70K to 100K+ a year. That would be sweet. Its not just janitorial stuff I would need to know it's like how to fix AC and lights and other things so It could be interesting and way easy and then I would be rolling in the dough too...just another path to ponder I guess. I suppose I should have really thought out my futre before I went away to college but things change I guess...
so I need another job I'm open from 9-2 everyday so if you know of any... let me know k And I don't have a car so if I could take a bus or my bike that would be total sweetness. I'm in Provo. And I need a job that pays really well too. So please keep these things in mind...
bah I need to sleep I get up at 430 to go to my custodial job...

:C

Tom left yesterday and I am very sad. I cried, yes.. I was doing very good about not crying until I told Jenessa I wasn't going to work and she goes "It makes sense. Are you ok?" And then I was like "Yes" but my voice cracked and she gave me a hug and I left to go tell Tom goodbye because he left at 5:30 in the morning. (Don't worry I wouldn't have gone to work anyways because I was sick on the verge of throwing up.) And I didn't start crying until I was over there and I hugged him. It was very sad. I miss him a lot. He was my best friend at school and now he's gone. And I won't get to see him for 2 and a half years. I don't know what to do with my life now we did everything together. I cried all day yesterday pretty much not continuously, but throughout the day. So sorry if you called me and I was mean to you. It's because you asked me about Tom and I didn't want to talk about it because I don't like crying in front of people. And especially not while I'm on the phone with them. Plus I had a lot of cleaning and packing I had to do plus I was exhausted to the max in every possible way. I don't know how this is going to work, I missed him as soon as he turned to get on the shuttle.

Unstability in...

Weather.

It snowed this morning...and now it is sunny and windy and very nice outside. Is this seriously how Utah weather is? Why do people tolerate it? Oh its just very annoying to wear a winter coat on your way to school because it's needed and then on your way home not need it but not want to take it off because you don't want to carry it. So then when you get home you are smelly and sweaty and stinky. :P lameness

my hair.
My hair doesn't care what I want it to do it just does whatever. If my hair looks way cute one day and I try to reproduce the look by doing everything exactly the same, it of course will look like crap. Grr

well that's about it.

I went to HFL with Tom today. I didn't really listen though because a) It's not my class and b) they handed out these quizzes for everyone to do and so I was busy answering it with funny answers. Like there was this one that said "Routines and rituals in family life are being threatened and destroyed by:" and then it had a blank for you to fill in so I put "Rabid Bunnies" (and I drew a rabid bunny) and drugs (and I drew drugs). T'was funny.

Going to class with him was enjoyable though. even though he sits right in the front row. I hate that but whatever.

Slow Down You Crazy Child

If you can guess where that title is from I'll give you a surprise...

The end of the semester is coming too quickly i don't like it. And it's making me tired. I feel like I'm trying so hard and putting so much into it but I don't think it's going to be enough in the end... any ways I'm having a good time all the same. I can't decide if my favorite class has been weather or Living prophets.

Weather is great because a) It's super easy b)it's so interesting and c) it's cool to be able to know how God worked the weather out. yeah it's way cool. We had to do a project that would take all semster about and then do a report on it at the end of the semester So I recorded the max and min temperatures for everday along with the inches of snowfall and percipitation. and then I made graphs and it was interesting to me to see the things we learned in class realized. Like ok so a cold front is moving in bringing snow with it. Well in front of that is warm air being pushed out of the way for the cold front. That's why it warms up before it snows and on my graphs it was plain to see that pattern the max and min air temps always rose up high before it snowed. It was cool. I made all these graphs and tables. But then my printer ran out of colored ink so I had to color them in Hopefully I don't get docked points for that. Escpecially since I don't think my report was the best.

Living prophets is just amazing. I mean what could be better than getting to go to class and learn about the Living Prophets for an hour. And about how the Church works. I just love it. We got to learn about all 15 Apostles like their biographies and it was way cool. Also for this class we had a semester long project and it was to read a biography of one of the apostles and write a paper on it. I chose President Gordon B. Hinkley. I know what you're thinking, "He's not alive anymore" But he was when we started the class so I bought the book and then he died but our teacher said we could still read his and I was happy because his book was the cheapest one even though it was the biggest. Yeah. But it was great being able to read about him because I really feel Like I know who he is now I know him better and It made me want to be better after reading it. and He was a man with challenges and difficulties just like us. Yes he made mistakes but i think the difference in how he corrected those mistakes was why he was so amazing. I think a lot of the times people mess up and they don't want to own up to it but He would and he would rely on the Lord throughout his life. Even when he witnessed terrible things he wouldn't doubt his testimony he would let it strengthen and grow through those hardships.

Yeah It was way good. I reccomend the book. But I have it so you can borrow it if you'd like just don't ruin it.

Oh but i still wish the end of the semester wasn't so imminent (?) Some many things end at the end... But it's a new begining too. like a new chapter in my book

Oh guess what I'm going to write a book this summer in my spare time. At least that's my plan.

Oh and I ordered my new phone today I like it. Its a samsung SCH-u410. i like it O and it was free.

Oh and I got new shoes today. They are way cute. And I needed them. My other ones were falling apart. I was going to leave the mall without anything because I couldn'tfind anything I really liked for a good price. But then as Tom and I were walking out through Penny's we saw these shoes and he was like hey what about those and I was like yeah I didn't see those before and they were cute blue plaid slides I got them in a size 8 because there weren't any size 9 and the best part was that they were supposed to be $35 but were like 50% off. So it was good

Also I got a canvas bag today at American Eagle. It's big and it ways I love my bike on one side and on the other it has a bike. it is dark blue. and it is big so I can use it for groceries and to carry stuff to school sometimes and to take my laundry to Lindsey's apt and other things. and it was only $7 it used to be $24

the moral of those stories is that I'm an excellent shopper
